Kayleigh's Summer of Fun - Radio Disney Day

They were having a free Radio Disney Day at the Gallivan Center today. Kayleigh got to do all sorts of fun things - train ride, bounce house, face painting. She got lots of free stuff, too! We had a pretty good time and it was a nice, much cooler day!

K and J's Summer of Fun - Wheeler Farm

Today I had to go to Salt Lake to take care of some insurance stuff for Tara, so the kids and I decided to check out Wheeler Farm while we were there. It was the first time for us all and a lot of fun for them. Jaxon was so excited to see all of the animals!

New Addition to the Family

Last night after Kayleigh's tball game, we saw a little kitten in the bushes behind Rue21. It darted down under and we looked around for awhile but couldn't find it. We went to Seagull Book for a few minutes then went back to look for it some more. Kayleigh, with her good eyes, saw it way under some really tangled bushes. I had to break the branches apart and pull the kitten out. There are no houses around that area and Matt thinks maybe someone dumped her there. She's tiny and a little skinny, but doesn't look like she's been out on her own for too long. We brought her home and named her Annie (as in Little Orphan Annie). Darcie isn't taking to her very well. A little jealous maybe.

Kayleigh's Summer of Fun - Antelope Island

Matt came home from work early tonight, so after dinner, we all went for a drive out to Antelope Island for a few hours.

Jaxon's 2nd Birthday

Last night, everyone (meaning Tara and Jaxon of course, Brandon and Hilary, and Garrett and Jamie) came over for dinner and to celebrate Jaxon's 2nd birthday. He is such a cutie. I love that little man!

Grandma Day and T-Ball

Kayleigh had a Grandma Day with Cathy yesterday. Matt took K to work with him and Cathy met them there. They went to breakfast at IHOP and then on a photo scavenger hunt at City Creek Mall in downtown Salt Lake. Grandma had a list of 15 things that they needed to find an photograph. I bought K a disposable camera to use (though she tried really hard to talk me into a $70 digital one!). From there, they went to the Leonardo Museum. Cathy brought her back to the house and hung out here with us and had dinner.

When Matt got home, we all went to K's first t-ball game against the Angels. It's so entertaining to watch these little girls who don't have a clue about how to really play the game. K didn't even pitch a fit about having to wear the too short, pink baseball pants they gave her.

Kayleigh's Summer of Fun - Museum of Fine Arts, Pioneer Memorial Museum, Magic Show, Bird Feeders - whew!

Today we took advantage of not having Jaxon and went to the Museum of Fine Arts up at the University of Utah. I started taking some pictures until I saw two workers point and one say to the other, "She's taking pictures!" I immediately put my camera away. I guess you're just supposed to know not to? I'm obviously lacking in culture!

While looking in the gift shop after, Kayleigh said, "I should take art classes." That lead me to buying a $15 book for her to draw in as opposed to the $1.49 hedgehog-shaped nail scrubber that she wanted.

From there, we went to the Pioneer Memorial Museum. I didn't realize until I went in that I'd never been there. We probably spent a good hour or so there. Kayleigh was facinated with a lot of it. Last night we started reading The Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder (she really likes the "Little House on the Prairie" TV show) and I told her that the way Laura lived is a lot like the pioneers. I think that's what really got her interested.

At 3:00, they had a magic show at the Syracuse Community Center by the library. We went last year and, thank goodness, it wasn't the same guy, though some of his tricks were the same. This guy was way better though. He had music and strobe lights that the kids loved and really got them involved. I was sitting too far back to take any pictures of it.

After we got home, Sidney, Shannon and Amanda came over to play so I actually let them all come in the house to make bird feeders out of oranges, peanut butter, cornmeal and sunflower seeds.

Kayleigh's Summer of Fun - Cooking with Kids class

Kayleigh is taking a six-week cooking class with our neighbor, Aimee Krey. I wasn't going to sign her up (because it costs a fortune!), but Aimee was going to donate the money to help a friend of hers whose husband has just been diagnosed with cancer and has been given only six months to live. Their insurance isn't even coming close to paying for his treatment. So, basically, I caved. Plus, I know K really likes going to them. I didn't make her pay for it either as she just finished paying for half of her tball fee.

Today was her first class and they made French toast. I don't have a picture of it because she ate it before she came home. I guess that was lunch. Classes are every Tuesday at noon for six weeks.

Kayleigh's New Do

Kayleigh went to kindergarten with boy triplets (Troy, Brody and Colby Hansen). They always had their hair spiked on top. Since she has always wanted to be a boy, she wanted her hair cut short so that she could spike it like theirs. Um...no. We compromised...I told her she could cut it short, but not like a boy and that we would try to spike it now and then. Of course, it's too long on top and it doesn't work (thank goodness). Part of the deal was also that she let me fix it cute on Sundays.
