Today we took advantage of not having Jaxon and went to the Museum of Fine Arts up at the University of Utah. I started taking some pictures until I saw two workers point and one say to the other, "She's taking pictures!" I immediately put my camera away. I guess you're just supposed to know not to? I'm obviously lacking in culture!
While looking in the gift shop after, Kayleigh said, "I should take art classes." That lead me to buying a $15 book for her to draw in as opposed to the $1.49 hedgehog-shaped nail scrubber that she wanted.
From there, we went to the Pioneer Memorial Museum. I didn't realize until I went in that I'd never been there. We probably spent a good hour or so there. Kayleigh was facinated with a lot of it. Last night we started reading The Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder (she really likes the "Little House on the Prairie" TV show) and I told her that the way Laura lived is a lot like the pioneers. I think that's what really got her interested.
At 3:00, they had a magic show at the Syracuse Community Center by the library. We went last year and, thank goodness, it wasn't the same guy, though some of his tricks were the same. This guy was way better though. He had music and strobe lights that the kids loved and really got them involved. I was sitting too far back to take any pictures of it.
After we got home, Sidney, Shannon and Amanda came over to play so I actually let them all come in the house to make bird feeders out of oranges, peanut butter, cornmeal and sunflower seeds.
